People looking for a place to host a corporate hospitality event may want to follow the current trend of popularity associated with York, according to a new report.
Recent figures published by Visit York found that between 2006 and 2007, business interest for holding such get-togethers as team building events had risen by 35 per cent, with 60 per cent of such occasions happening on a day basis, according to the Business Desk.
Over 1.3 million business delegates headed to the picturesque city, with 1.8 million delegate days in total resulting in a growth of 200,000 events over the period.
Marketing manager for Visit York Kate McMullen said the area had "growth potential", adding "the results show that York can attract more overnight stays in this market than most other UK destinations".
She continued: "We need now to build on our success so far and to strengthen our offer to conference organisers."
Places which may interest delegates who are looking to motivate employees in the area include such attractions as the Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum and the York Castle Museum, as well as providing famous hotels with conference facilities such as the Park Inn.
