Working practices 'improving' after recession

Date: 24/11/2009

Issues of corporate citizenship as well as incentives and recognition were highlighted earlier in the week by the latest report by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), causing a major employment expert to respond to the results.

Phil Flaxton, the chief executive of Work Wise UK, commented on CBI statistics which showed that alongside team-building activities, companies are looking to embrace their team more after the recession showed businesses to be full of errors which could be solved with more inter-departmental cohesion.

He explained: "During the recession, more and more businesses have been looking to see how they can save money and of course one of the ways they can do that is by introducing what we call smarter working."

Mr Flaxton added that while many have learned to boost communication with workers, perhaps through the likes of team building conferences, it is flexible working which will be a defining factor in the future of the UK's fortunes.

Work Wise UK is a non-profit initiative and aims to make the UK a progressive economy by encouraging the widespread adoption of improved working practices.
