Well-managed companies 'better geared towards survival'
Date: 23/01/2009
Companies worried about their standing in the recession will get through the lulls in business with good management, according to a recent report by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC).
The importance of strong team building training and performance was highlighted by chief economist David Kern, who said it was particularly important as it was not just a slump but a full-blown recession.
Victor Tardieu, the creative director at events management expert MotivAction Group, agreed with the principles highlighted by Mr Kern, noting that managers also need to be well trained in the implementation and psychology of recognition and incentives in order for their business to be successful.
Trained managers should then create "in-house champions" to keep the recognition process alive, he added, with communication and simplicity recommended by his company as major contributors to this working.
Businesses partnering the BCC are offered training for work in the international market and the development of the company lifecycle, while MotivAction Group are experts at internal changes to a company through the establishment of staff incentives as well as reward and recognition schemes.
