Unions highlight how external advice can help improve the workplace
Date: 17/03/2010
Businesses working with corporate events management in the workplace to secure better working conditions for their employees may also want to consider the role of unions as well, it has been explained.
Brendan Barber, the general secretary of the TUC, explained that in order to deliver an improved atmosphere in the office or factory, unions ought to be kept in the loop with any ideas in order to avoid any potential problems with workers.
While companies may liaise with specialist corporate event management agencies to improve incentives and recognition as opposed to wages, Mr Barber maintained that unions are still important in negotiating wages for employees - something else which weighs heavily on the minds of staff looking for extra reward.
Mr Barber added: "But unions' work goes well beyond wages and working conditions. By giving staff a voice at work they can help to resolve conflict and reduce the number of people quitting work."
His comments follow those of Fiona D'Silva, an expert in business speaking to the Economic Times, who said that negative people in the working environment ought to be enlightened through team building conferences, improving their outlook and putting an end to negative influences on others.
