Travel perks for high performing staff are an excellent sales incentive.
According to Kansas City reporter Ruth Baum Bigus, more and more firms are switching on to the idea of offering their staff travel-based sales incentives as a means of boosting productivity in the workplace.
She claimed that some firms are even opting to send staff around the globe as a reward for meeting sales targets.
She said that while the recession has certainly reduced the amount of travel-related reward and recognition programmes, this type of sales incentive is still popular.
Melissa Dow, a sales incentive expert, told Bigus: "Clients are reducing the budget on how much they want to spend per person."
However, she added that while there was a definite move away from the costly wining and dining of employees, many firms were still allowing their staff to "go have fun" once they have met their targets.
Dow's comments come after a Chartered Management Institute study showed that cash is not always the best way to boost employee motivation.
