The five goals of corporate team building events

Date: 01/07/2010

Corporate team building events come in many guises and can achieve any number of aims.

But one industry expert has claimed that there are five key issues that need to be addressed by team building activities if they are to impact on individual teams in the workplace.

Writing for SearchAoutParts.com, Kevin Mehok claimed that the five things all leadership and motivation events should address are: Respect, trust, integrity, honesty and compassion.

Mehok said that all these issues arise in the world of professional sport, but are equally applicable to the world of work.

"I've always believed organised sports imitate life," he said.

"If any of you have played organised sports, you know there's nothing that works as smoothly as a well-run sports team," he added.

He said that the exception in the list was compassion, which is vital in the business environment, but not considered on the football pitch or tennis court.

When England's performance in the World Cup picked up against Slovenia - prior to being beaten by 4-1 by Germany - manager Fabio Capelo claimed that team building over a beer was responsible.
