The Naked Office: A team building activity too far?

Date: 24/05/2010

There could be something to be said for letting it all hang out in the workplace as a team building activity, according to one journalist writing about the launch of documentary series The Naked Office.

In the series, employees are encouraged to work naked together in an effort to build stronger bonds, setting it apart somewhat from more traditional corporate team building events like paintballing.

Although the programme has been widely panned by critics, Samatha Sanghera wrote in the Times that office-based nudity could encourage a greater awareness of health and safety - "especially around filing cabinets and staplers".

For those still not convinced about the workplace benefits of naturism, the journalist notes that playing with Lego has been shown to teach professionals more about problem solving, strategic planning and team building.

This idea was taken to the next level by a Canadian property firm recently, the Calgary Sun reports, after it asked its employees to design, build, market and sell a house from scratch.
