Tesco joins list of companies to increase employee motivation this Christmas

Date: 19/11/2010

Tesco is the latest company to offer its staff a reward this Christmas, as it will give employees benefits worth £55 million.

In a lift for employee motivation, the retailer's 280,000 workers will receive vouchers for up to £20 as a thank you for their hard work.

Staff will also be given an extra day's holiday, a treat that will cost the company around £15 million.

Lucy Neville-Rolfe, executive director at Tesco, said: "Christmas is the busiest and most challenging time of the year for Tesco.

"Our staff are working harder than ever and are key to providing customers with a great Christmas. This is our thank you for all their loyalty and hard work."

In addition to these rewards, the Christmas spirit will continue as the 'family and friends' scheme gives Tesco employees' relations and loved ones the opportunity to apply for jobs during the festive period.

Tesco's announcement follows one from international technology company Siemens, which revealed yesterday that it would be giving staff a £267 million bonus to reward them for their hard work through the recession.
