Team working 'is complex and wide-reaching'

Date: 20/09/2010

There are no easy answers for those companies looking to improve their team-working abilities, an expert has claimed.

Canute Waswa, writing for Business Daily Africa, has highlighted the fact that there is no single way to tackle this problem and raise employee motivation.

He said that these sessions need to be more than getting people together for some fun and giving them a common experience.

Mr Waswa said: "It draws the hard aspects of the team - tenacity of pursuit, reasonable self denial, initiative and creativity, judgment and foresight etc - and fuses them with team relations, which is about communication, trust, conflict resolution and vulnerability."

He added that those activities which carry a feeling of daring and risk, such as extreme sports, can be a great way to get a group to pull together.

Davies Arnold Cooper recently claimed that employers are increasingly using a wide array of innovative communication skills in order to boost employee motivation.  ADNFCR-2060-ID-800072829-ADNFCR
