Team building training 'leads to faster economic recovery'

Date: 13/01/2009

Companies which invest in a company event or two for team building training will likely recover from the current economic downturn quicker than the competition, according to a major fast food chain executive.

David Fairhurst, the senior vice-president of McDonald's, said companies have seen a number of benefits as a result of such initiatives, which may include corporate away days or murder mystery events.

He continued: "It has never been more important to continue investing in skills and all the evidence shows it will lead to a faster recovering from the downturn and they will come out better from the downturn in better shape."

Furthermore, Mr Fairhurst sang the praises of those using corporate hospitality events, noting that such company events improves worker skill bases, confidence and qualifications.

McDonald's is home to the UK's largest apprenticeship scheme, with 10,000 people a year benefiting from the company's support structure for young starters.
