Team building is 'only way to be productive' in workplace

Date: 29/04/2009

Although pressures are galvanised by the current economic climate, team building is and always has been a major part of the work ethic and as a result, it should be nurtured by managers as often as possible, an expert recommends.

In a piece for the Gannett News Service, performance expert Michael Crom recommended that teamwork be fostered by managers as it is a skill that is demanded more by the year, with many people required to be associated with several teams at once.

Mr Crom placed a heavy emphasis on how team building can enhance communication skills in the workplace, allowing managers to integrate efficiency into tasks with greater ease.

Furthermore, trust is improved in the office as teamwork encourages a friendlier atmosphere, he added, though supervisors should ensure they are skilled in the planning and organisation needed to make the work go as smoothly as possible.

Team building was the core necessity for Primary Freight Services, a company which told the Los Angeles Times of its initiative to retain and motivate staff during the recession without having to let any of them go - a key motivator in itself.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19146389-ADNFCR
