Team building corporate events to create friendship?
Date: 03/03/2010
Businesses may want to use team building corporate events in order to foster friendships as it may be this which boosts morale in an office, according to a new study.
In the latest Randstad Work Watch survey of workplace friendships, conducted by Ipsos Public Affairs, is was found that friendship with co-workers is a major aid in job enjoyment.
The results of the study concluded that 67 per cent reported that having friends at work made their job more fun and enjoyable, while 55 per cent felt that said relationships make the job much more satisfying and worthwhile.
Eileen Habelow, the senior vice-president of organisational development for Randstad, said: "There is no denying that workplace friendships can contribute to a positive workplace culture, including increased productivity and creativity, heightened morale, enhanced personal performance and stronger team cohesiveness."
She added that many times, employees simply are not aware that small but positive changes are good for the overall business of the company.
Ipsos Public Affairs, which carried out the research, is a non-partisan and objective research organisation working on behalf of a number of American and international companies.
