Team building corporate events can 'boost morale'

Using team building corporate events is an excellent way of engaging staff and increasing motivation, it has been claimed.

According to corporate incentives expert Andrew Hodgkins, while it is vital that UK companies reward staff appropriately, rewards do not have to take the form of cash incentives and can involve team building at a corporate event.

"As well as reducing stress, entertaining at top sports events can be a fitting reward as part of an internal incentive scheme, increasing staff motivation," Mr Hodgkins said.

"In any walk of life, respect, trust and the friendship can all blossom as a result of spending an unforgettable day out together," he added.

He concluded that reducing stress is more important than ever as the economic downturn puts increasing pressure on office workers.

Recent research conducted by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work has shown that four out of five European managers are concerned about work-related stress, but less than a third have a means of dealing with it.
