Team building corporate events 'should happen at least once a year'

Date: 23/04/2010

Managers trying to enhance employee motivation through team building conferences are taking the right approach, one commentator has said.

Mike Emmott, employee relations adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), said that "you can never do enough team building", emphasising that it is something that should be carried out in every workplace at least once per year.

Another effective way to build stronger relationships between employees is to involve them more closely in discussions about work objectives, he went on to say.

"If you put them in a situation where they see that they all have a share in some wider purpose, then that's very good for helping people to help each other," Mr Emmott added.

The comments come soon after a study by the British Psychological Society revealed that team building corporate events, which can be as simple as having a meal together, significantly boosted a feeling of unity in groups of people.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19739725-ADNFCR
