Team building conferences set for go ahead in new Suffolk venue
Date: 26/01/2010
Suffolk's team building get-togethers may have been boosted by the latest announcement for the industry in the area.
Wherstead House, a mansion which was built in 1714 and remained closed for decades in the 1900s and early 2000s, has finally opened its doors as a conference venue for corporate events management companies to liaise with, following a successful refurbishment.
The Ipswich Evening Star detailed the acquisition of the building by the East of England Co-operative Society in 2008, which has since been granted permission to create a new space for meetings and team building conferences.
Commercial manager at the venue Lesley Frost told the newspaper: "We had this amazing facility attached to the office space so it was almost a no-brainer to develop it further. It lends itself perfectly for conferences and private dinners and weddings."
Earlier this month, a £215 million expansion of the Tate Modern was launched by Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, in plans which will see it turn into a major venue by 2012.
