Team building conferences 'best for motivating staff'

Date: 26/08/2009

Motivating key staff is vital in the current economic climate - and team building conferences are an excellent way of doing so, it has been claimed.

According to the Cheeky Food Group, cooking activities are excellent team building corporate events as members of staff are likely to let their defences down and work together as a group in this type of environment.

Director of the organisation Leona Watson commented: "In economic downturns, staff can feel unsure about their job security, which often erupts into competitiveness. A team activity where everyone is the winner, rather than creating a few elite stars, is critical for creating a sense of unity and success."

She added that cooking events can provide an upbeat atmosphere in which staff can interact and work together, while the meals that are prepared are an incentive for the employees to look forward to.

Earlier this month, Gillian Hibberd, the corporate director of people and policy at Buckinghamshire County Council, stressed that a good way to keep team building corporate events lively is to always hold them in a different location.
