A national award-winning council service has attributed its success to solid team building skills as well as the emphasis that is placed on motivating employees.
Doncaster council's cleaning service, Metro Clean, was recently given the Asset Skills Employment Award for Women at Work for its dedication to the providing of extra training to female staff.
The organisation takes care of cleaning at over 425 sites across the borough of Doncaster, as well as giving the chance for workers to train at a centre accredited by the British Institute of Cleaning Science.
Commenting on the award, deputy mayor and councillor Stuart Exelby said: "This award demonstrates the commitment and hard work Metro Clean has placed on developing a well-trained and motivated workforce.
"All staff continue to work together as a team to deliver an outstanding service to their customers."
The importance of team building as a facet of the working environment was emphasised by Paula Lawlor in a piece for health magazine Advance, stating that the dynamic of workers must be in good shape in the current economic climate.
