Team building activities should focus on connecting individuals

Date: 07/07/2010

Team building activities are most successful when individual team members feel a connection with their colleagues, it has been claimed.

According to corporate team building events expert Maria Luisa Salcines, businesses are more successful if their teams gel and members both understand and respect each other.

Writing for The Monitor, Salcines said that team leaders should also be aware of their own strengths and know when to let team members take on more responsibility.

"It is essential that a team be built on a solid foundation," she said - highlighting the benefits of team building activities and corporate team building events.

She concluded that it is important that leaders remain flexible and willing to restructure their teams when necessary.

Recently, Dragons' Den entrepreneur James Caan told the Daily Telegraph that successful leadership and motivation in the workplace involves rewarding staff, as well as offering appreciation for their efforts.

Caan suggested that employees and employers can benefit from reward and recognition, and sales incentive programs.
