Team building activities important for half of UK firms

Date: 28/05/2010

Nearly half of the UK's businesses consider team building corporate events to be of high importance, according to the latest Aviva Health of the Workplace survey.

The study found that some 46 per cent of employers recognise the value of team building activities, with many saying that regular social events were a vital way of enhancing employee motivation, employeebenefits.co.uk reports.

Meanwhile, more than a quarter operate regular bonus and reward and recognition schemes in the workplace, with 28 per cent presenting awards to the employee of the month.

However, games emerged as one of the least popular team building activities, with just 18 per cent saying they used them, suggesting that businesses find other forms of team bonding to be more useful.

The survey also found that very few employers (five per cent) consider the government's "fit notes" scheme to be of any value, with most believing they will do little to reduce absence rates.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19808329-ADNFCR
