Team building activities could become more widespread in the future

Date: 06/08/2010

Businesses may come to rely on corporate team building events and team building activities more and more in the future.

According to international business analyst Gartner, the modern workplace is very different to what it was a decade ago and in ten years' time workplace differences are likely to be equally dramatic.

Gartner claims that by 2020, fewer people will work on their own and workplace tasks will become much less routine.

The increase in team activity in the workplace is likely to drive demand for corporate team building events and as the challenges of modern business become less predictable, strong leadership and motivation will come into its own.

Tom Austin, vice-president and Gartner fellow, said: "People will swarm more often and work solo less.

"They'll work with others with whom they have few links, and teams will include people outside the control of the organisation."

Recently, corporate team building events expert Maria Luisa Salcines told The Monitor that successful workplace connections are an essential part of the team building process.
