Team building activities boost cross-functional understanding

Date: 18/06/2010

Team building activities can have a huge number of benefits - including boosting cross-functional understanding and improving staff communication, it has been claimed.

According to industry expert Al Lock, corporate team building events can have a huge number of possible outcomes and careful thought is needed to ensure that they have tangible benefits in the workplace.

Writing for the Bangkok Post, Mr Lock noted that "very often, team building programmes put together people who never actually work together in the workplace".

He added: "That isn't team-building. It's something else."

Mr Lock suggested that managers consult closely with their chosen corporate events management company before implementing a leadership and motivation programme for staff.

Setting clear goals that are relevant is absolutely vital, he concluded.

Recently, the Runcorn and Widnes World claimed that team building events can be equally as effective when used in schools.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19847156-ADNFCR
