To ensure that team building at a corporate event runs smoothly, management must plan the activites well in advance, according to an industry expert.
Julia East, the president and chief executive officer of Southwest Florida Community Foundation, said that "organisational leadership, or leadership of any kind for that matter, requires many different elements", with the most important one being team building.
Speaking to Florida Weekly, she said that prior planning to determine goals for each team was necessary as it gave a result for each team member to work towards.
Ms East emphasised the role of such planning in event management was particularly important given the current financial climate.
She continued: "Especially in these tough economic times, we all need to work in teams as much as we can."
According to Susan M Heathfield of About.com, one of the most important things in team building exercises is the distribution of personnel, with teams needing more thought than a random selection as different people have a variety of strengths to lend to the desired cause.
