Strong teams can tackle problems more easily

A good level of teamwork will improve problem solving and motivation in the workplace, it has been claimed.

According to Smart Business writer Kevin Daum, "a great team experience adds a dimension of entertainment to the [workplace]. Team members move past the goal and process and engage with each other".

He said that once team members start engaging with their colleagues on a personal level, problem resolution becomes much easier.

Mr Daum said that effective teamwork is so important to a business's productivity and staff retention that employers "expend great amounts of resources" on corporate team building events.

"Oftentimes, these bonded teams will work harder, with greater output, since they enjoy spending time with each other," he noted.

His comments show that team building activities can be a worthwhile expense, even during an economic downturn.

Business analyst Gartner claims that team building corporate events are set to become more commonplace between now and 2020.
