Stress 'must be faced head-on'

Date: 13/04/2010

Businesses must be happy to hold a team building conference or corporate event as a means of coming up with a plan to tackle stress levels should they get out of control, it has been recommended.

In a report for the Economic Times, it was explained that a range of initiatives could be utilised by companies facing these problems.

Founder of the Shiamak Davar Institute for Performing Arts Shiamak Davar told the publication that exercise programmes such as "Corporate Jazz" lessons can help people loosen up and relax, particularly given the very different approach to calming down.

Commenting on the ideology, Mr Davar said: "The format of this programme focuses on improving fitness, relieving stress, building team spirit, enhancing willpower, confidence and communication skills, while boosting concentration of the employees."

It was also reported that Coca-Cola is using corporate dance lessons as another way of opposing stress.

According to health management consultant at intermediary ADVO Group Sheila Payne in an interview with Health Insurance and Protection magazine, employee engagement is "essential" in the current economic climate.
