If a business does not put enough stock into its workers, it will not endure in the long run, it is believed.
Such is the view of Gary McEwan, the chief executive of the Enterprise North East Trust, who told the Press and Journal that business owners must recognise the importance of motivating staff through team building conferences in order to make sure that 2010 is a success.
He asserted that staff will always be the "lifeblood" of any firm and that without them, services will simply not be delivered to their clients.
Commenting on cost-cutting techniques such as pay freezes and other initiatives, he continued: "While this is necessary to keep the business on track, it is equally important, once business owners have identified a plan for the year, that they communicate it to all staff."
Team building conferences are perfect for this, he added, as if personnel are left out of the loop when it comes to business plans, they will likely feel nervous, unmotivated or unvalued as a result.
Last month, the Scotsman revealed that a new place for team building conferences and corporate events is to be added to a major development in the popular St James Centre in Edinburgh, following a lack of demand for the previously-planned office space.
