Businesses looking for a good reason to justify a team building experience or a corporate event for employees should think about the future image of their organisation, it has been stated.
Speaking to the Irish Times, Dr Shirley Janner of Manchester Metropolitan Business School said people naturally feel trapped in their current jobs due to the problems associated with the dwindling job market and as such, their work should be met by managers with schemes aimed at motivating employees.
The expert continued: "How successfully an organisation manages their business through this downturn will have a lasting effect on its brand reputation too."
She added that people will remember about "how others were treated during this period" and as a result, positive changes such as reward and recognition schemes could "impact on their ability to recruit new talent in the future".
Last week, philosophy professor AC Grayling told the Times that recognition schemes are a "universal motivator" and should be harnessed if a business is to succeed in the current market.
