Business people are regularly seeing their bonus culture disappearing, highlighting the need for them to seek alternative methods of employee recognition, it is believed.
Managing director of Sellick Partnership in Northern Ireland Sara McKinty explained that before performance drops and negative attitudes in a business develop, a company must invest time and thought into its incentive schemes in light of financial constraints.
She explained that first and foremost, organisations must ensure that lines of communication are kept open and allow for staff to discuss any issues they may have.
Ms McKinty continued: "Letting them know that they are of value to your organisation and that they are appreciated for the job they perform will go a long way in shaping attitudes and ensuring staff engagement."
Furthermore, the importance of team building events was emphasised, bringing together a firm well through motivation and a single goal for everyone to work towards.
Ms McKinty's comments follow those made by Express Computer recently, which stated that engaged employees are a "great asset" to any company, if not the best.
