Southport wins several team building conferences
Date: 04/03/2010
Southport Conferences has won a number of major conference events worth in the region of £10 million for the local economy over the coming six years, it has been announced.
Among the offerings will be a three-day annual congress for the International Dance Teachers Association, to be held at the Southport Theatre and Convention Centre (STCC) every year until 2015 and bringing with it around 1,000 delegates to the resort every summer for the next five years.
A 400-delegate annual conference for the Prison Officers Association has also been announced and will take place every year at the STCC between May 2011 and 2016.
Tony Corfield, the Sefton Council assistant director of leisure and tourism, explained: "The commitment for them to return year after year really highlights, particularly in an uncertain economic climate, the strength of the destination and its offering for delegates."
The STCC is hosting a wide array of events at its facilities this month, including part of the stand-up tour of TV funnyman Jimmy Carr.
