Solution to employee motivation 'is simple'

There is a simple solution to keeping many employees motivated, according to one commentator.

People will be motivated by different things, be they recognition programmes, team building training or company events, explains personnel management expert Bob Levoy.

"The solution to this employee motivation dilemma is simple," he states in an article for Veterinary Economics.

"Ask your team members what motivates them to do their job better. They'll gladly tell you."

He points out that recognition programmes can keep staff motivated and explains that such schemes will work best in a climate that allows self-motivation to flourish.

Such an atmosphere in the workplace can be aided by things such as company events, staff parties and team building training, adds Annie Yap, chief executive of GSI Executive Search.
