Plans to refurbish Scarborough's historic Grade II-listed Spa complex, which dates back to 1858, have been approved, with the development expected to cost £10 million.
The BBC reported that the plan is to allow the building to become an entertainment venue, which will undoubtedly host team building conferences and live brand experiences in the future.
Pauline Elliott, the head of regeneration and planning at the local council, told the BBC that they are delighted with the approval, noting that it is an exciting time for Scarborough and will help in boosting the local economy.
Ms Elliott explained that the project will "improve the prominence" of the spa in the town and better connect it with the more major tourist heart of Scarborough.
She continued: "The renovation of the Spa will enable a wider programme of events to be staged, appealing to a more varied audience and also enhance the level of business activity by capturing a greater proportion of the conference market."
Earlier this month, Luton Borough Council revealed to the local press that it will launch a campaign to attract people to the town as an area for team building conferences, away from the hustle and bustle of London.
