Reward and recognition 'can be done on tight budget'

Companies wishing to implement a solid reward and recognition scheme in the workplace need not spend too much money in their quest for motivating employees, it is stated.

According to PublishingEdge, it may be some of the simplest things which could improve morale and performance in a company, such as offering gifts as part of a recognition scheme, providing they are not silly and impersonal.

The publication also recommended the services which could be provided in tandem with an events organiser or motivational specialist.

It said: "Get a speaker/trainer into your office, do a training session yourself, go buy a book or buy one for each of your team members, or set up a training library your staff can borrow from anytime."

Training and development can also help employees feel wanted, with their extended skills coming in handy further down the line.
