Finding and retaining employees in the current economic downturn is the biggest challenge facing employers in the current climate, it has been stated.
According to Don and Sheryl Grimme in a piece for Slow Leadership, it is imperative that business leaders understand their desires are much different to those who work below them, with employees ranking appreciation of work as their most desirable outcome from work.
However, leaders prefer good wages and job security, highlighting the need for bosses to get involved in motivating employees, perhaps through a company event or team building activity.
The writers emphasised that "the very presence of quality in a job is motivating".
Mr and Mrs Grimme continued: "The greater your sense of achievement and the more involved you are in your work, the more energised and excited you will be."
According to Slow Leadership, the concept of productivity should be seen as a subjective thing as it is the sense of accomplishment which is important.
