Relocation strategies 'require employee focus'

Date: 23/04/2009

The current trend of companies having to relocate due to cost-cutting arrangements in the current financial downturn may result in a performance drop, with an employee focus encouraged by one expert.

Darren Krakowiak, a real estate and management expert working for Jones Lang LaSalle, told the Korea Times that morale must be maintained as many workers may be intimidated by such a change, with property moves hinting that other changes to their jobs may be imminent.

However, the choice of workplace should be seen as another way of motivating employees, the specialist asserted, noting that issues regarding access to public transport, parking and provision of amenities should be at the front of all managerial decisions.

Mr Krakowiak added that staff taking part in such a successful move to different surroundings will have a much greater team building ethic and will emerge from the recession with enhanced strength and performance.

According to a Keep Britain Working survey this month, it was found that employees are more willing to take a pay cut than see one of their workmates dropped as a result of cost-cutting.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19136115-ADNFCR
