Refurbishment gives Belfast hotel an extra star

Date: 14/07/2009

In a bid to enhance its standing as a corporate hospitality event destination, the Park Avenue Hotel in Belfast has invested in its abilities as a provider of hosting space for UK companies.

And for its diligence and good work, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board has awarded the hotel with a fourth star, the Belfast Telegraph reported.

It is hoped that the family-owned 56-bedroom establishment - which provides jobs to 100 locals - will attract many people in the future through new bar, restaurant and corporate event facilities.

Hotel director Mandy Martin said the hotel's commitment to its long-term popularity helped the family make the decision.

She continued: "By committing the investment which was entirely financed by the hotel without public subsidy, we are expressing confidence in the sector and the continuing development and realisation of the potential for east Belfast, the wider city and Northern Ireland to become a mainstream destination."

Earlier in July, Battersea Power Station announced that it was now a safe destination to host corporate events.
