Recognition schemes 'must be used for productivity'

Date: 12/03/2009

Companies looking to improve their team's performance ought to invest in a recognition scheme if they are to be successful in their goal, it is stated.

According to the latest poll conducted by Bayt.com, 41 per cent of respondents do not believe they have a workplace which truly recognises their efforts, causing productivity to fall.

Amer Zureikat, the regional manager of the website, said that productivity is something every business needs to address as soon as possible.

He continued: "Organisations the world over are realising that successfully motivating staff on an ongoing basis is a fundamental element in building good rapport among staff, keeping staff loyal to the company and most of all maintaining optimal productivity levels of employees."

Mr Zureikat added that this became more crucial as the effects of the economic crisis begin to run steadily deeper into businesses across the world, particularly with constant news of job losses and unstable futures which can de-motivate staff.

Earlier this month, staff at Stockport council were recognised for their efforts during a Corporate Performance Assessment and were rewarded with an extra day of holiday.
