Recognition programmes 'good start to motivating employees'

Date: 21/01/2009

Operating a recognition programme to acknowledge excellent work is a "wonderful place to start" when motivating employees, it is suggested.

Employers must consider both what motivates and de-motivates people when using such schemes, advises Habeeb Ahamed in an article for the Deccan Herald.

"Motivation represents a measurable increase in both job satisfaction and productivity," he states, meaning that a motivated worker will do his job better and enjoy it more than those who are not motivated.

The things that generate motivation include opportunities for achievement, recognition, learning and having some say in how the job is done, Mr Ahamed continues.

Motivating employees can be done in a variety of ways and MotivAction advises that conferences and events give an opportunity for bosses to do this.

The exercises and benefits provided by such schemes can cover team building, brand experiences, focus groups, motivational speakers and communication events.ADNFCR-2060-ID-18984791-ADNFCR
