Recognition 'should be a part of employee interaction'

Date: 24/02/2009

A writer of a title regarding the importance of employee recognition has relayed her tips to managers around the globe who wish to improve performance in the workplace.

Cindy Ventrice, the author of Make Their Day! Employee Recognition that Works, said that improving such things as team building and establishing a system based on acknowledgement, workers will feel more empowered and will be less likely to be absent.

She said that in finding ways to make recognition a major part of employee interaction, recognition itself will become inherent and firmly established within the company.

Ms Ventrice concluded: "And, once a system of personalised and thoughtful recognition is set into motion, a motivated, loyal and industrious team will begin to emerge. Managers will soon see their jobs get easier."

East Midlands Trains recently revealed it had launched an employee recognition programme to enhance performance, with awards passed out to those who show respect, professionalism, team building and honesty.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19042749-ADNFCR
