Recognising workers with sales incentives

Date: 15/07/2010

Keeping workers motivated during a downturn can be challenging, especially if a pay review is not possible.

But there are other ways to engage staff and ensure they feel appreciated for the work they are doing.

According to leadership and motivation news provider Helium, one such sales incentive which can prove effective is having an employee of the month accolade for the person who has achieved the most.

Businesses can also be rewarded with things other than money, the website claimed, including by giving them vouchers or free gifts - a practice which has taken off in many pressurised sales departments across the UK.

However, Helium claimed that one of the best ways to boost morale and increase motivation amongst staff is to hold corporate team building events.

"What you should do if you desire to thank your entire staff at once? You can do something such as holding a company party," the website stated.

According to former Apple employees responding to a survey conducted by Silicon Alley Insider, the companies single greatest motivating initiatives were product launch events.
