R&D departments 'need incentives to succeed'

Date: 10/02/2009

Companies with research and development departments need to use incentive programmes to succeed, particularly in the current climate, it has been said.

Joff Wild, writing for IAM Magazine, highlighted comments made by the iPerformance Group which said that such systems aid the stimulation of innovative thoughts within a company, thus helping them set themselves apart from the pack through a new line of thinking.

Mr Wild said that despite the complications of research and development, "it seems pretty self-evident that if you incentivise people to do something they are more likely to do it than if you do not".

iPerformance's research further found that companies actively promoting reward and recognition ideals will have an increase of innovative activities of up to 58 per cent, perhaps helping people consider the benefits of a corporate event to focus on team building and other schemes for performance.

Earlier this month, Clint Greenleaf of Inc stated that staff incentives were so necessary that ignoring them would be "catastrophic".ADNFCR-2060-ID-19018118-ADNFCR
