Employers who want to offer staff incentives and recognition for their hard work could consider offering travel perks, says an expert.
According to Armand Guillemot, sales director at Great Hotels of the World, more bosses will use travel incentives as a way to boost employee motivation this year, as businesses begin to recover from the money restrictions seen in the last few years.
The company reports a "significant increase" between October and December 2010 in the number of enquiries about travel as a way to offer incentives and recognition for staff, compared to the same period in 2009.
Mr Guillemot said: "On average, the length of stay for incentive trips has increased and lead times are short and the industries now considering these incentive events are mainly from the retail, automotive and banking sector.
"Bonuses are back in the city and we are now starting to feel the issues of the past few years are coming to an end."
Many businesses believe that offering incentives and recognition to staff increases productivity in the long run, especially when tailored to meet both the company's and the employee's specific requirements.
