Offer bonuses and rewards to boost employee motivation, says research

Date: 14/01/2011

Bonuses and rewards are the most important things people consider when taking a job, according to research.

The study, by commercial recruiter Crone Corkill, showed that more than half of people asked said that these factors would boost their employee motivation.

Pensions were rated as the second most important factor at just over 25 per cent, while healthcare was considered necessary by 20 per cent of people.

Only two per cent of people said that a company car and gym membership would entice them to take a job.

Gabrielle Drake, associate director of Crone Corkill, says: "Gone are the days when salary was enough to recruit and retain top talent for your business; providing attractive employee benefits is now just as important."

Yesterday Workforce Logistics suggested that employee motivation could be boosted by allowing flexible working.
It also claimed that flexible working can reduce stress.
