Date: 15/01/2010
Businesses looking to launch a live brand experience or a team building conference may want to take cues from the O2, following an announcement about the venue yesterday (January 14th).
The O2 was named the world's most popular music venue for the second successive year, with the 23,000-capacity London centrepiece selling well over 2.3 million tickets during 2009, smashing its own record of 1,806,447 in 2008.
Compiled by Pollstar, the poll also revealed that Manchester's MEN Arena is the second-most popular music venue in the world.
David Campbell, president and chief executive of O2 owner AEG Europe, was elated with the news and said: "These results really are quite amazing. I want to thank all the artists, agents, managers, promoters, the more than 2,500 people who work at the O2 and all our partners.
"London deserves a world class entertainment destination and we will keep working hard in the next decade to ensure we remain a world leader."
In the coming weeks, the O2 will be hosting the National Television Awards, Strictly Come Dancing and Eric Clapton with Jeff Beck.
