Motivation is high among managers
Date: 27/07/2010
Motivation is relatively high among managers, despite the impact of the recession still being felt.
According to a new report released by Lane4, almost two-thirds of middle and senior managers felt motivated in their current role.
The What's Motivating You? survey also showed that almost nine in ten wanted to stay in their current job even if the employment market fully recovers. Just 25 per cent felt like their current role was a stepping stone to better career prospects.
Dominic Mahony, Europe practice director of Lane4, said: "Our report demonstrates that motivation is generally high, and on the increase, and that the majority of employees are staying in their jobs out of choice rather than due to a lack of options."
He added, however, that decreasing reward and recognition in the workplace was becoming a problem and despite the high levels of middle-management motivation, a quarter of the workforce were still unmotivated.
Writing for The Monitor, corporate team building events expert Maria Luisa Salcines claimed that making successful workplace connections was a vital aspect of employee motivation.
