Motivation in crisis is 'very important'

Date: 02/03/2009

In a time characterised by worldwide lay-offs, salary freezes and scarce bonuses, it stands to reason that motivating employees with reward and recognition is the way forward, a manager has stated.

Eileen Yu of ZDNet Asia said that despite the threats to staff through economic problems, the biggest asset a firm has is still the people working for it and as such, keeping hold of such solid talent is paramount to a company's continued strength in the face of financial hardship.

The expert said that as the manager of her own team, both motivating employees and performance development are very important things which she considers in her job on a day-to-day basis.

She continued: "I try to ensure that every valuable member in my team is given reasons, be it in terms of career or skills development, to stay loyal to the company."

Last month, CIO Today stated that keeping consumers in the current market also necessitated the use of staff incentives and motivation to keep conversations between the company and customers in good spirit.ADNFCR-2060-ID-19053186-ADNFCR
