The current economic climate is making it more difficult for company executives to fulfil their commitments to motivate employees, making it a more stressful time for both parties, it is said.
Speaking to the Zanesville Times Recorder, motivational expert Jim Evans spoke of how a defined strategy is needed in modern business to ensure both parties succeed when starting a new reward and recognition programme.
He said that sincere appreciation with any recognition scheme is excellent and costs nothing, meaning that it can enhance the effects of a prospective team building event.
Furthermore, engaging employees with a major project for the ultimate good of the company may also help, improving performance and communication in the office.
Mr Evans also noted that the acknowledgement of fears and concerns can put an office space at ease with the otherwise turbulent employment environment.
He concluded: "Although employers play a primary role in leading the company through difficult times, employees share some responsibility.
"A shared commitment motivates everyone to work through these difficult times toward a much brighter future."
In a piece for HR World, Margaret Steen said that by pinpointing an employee's personality, it is easier to tailor a recognition scheme to the members of a particular workplace.
