Date: 12/03/2010
A new survey has offered a major insight into the current sentiment of employees from small and medium-sized enterprises, highlighting how team building conferences could be used.
According to the poll from CheckPoint HR, over half of respondents said that employee morale was down, while a further 49 per cent of people said that managing expenses is the number one priority for 2010, much higher than the 32 per cent who believed in maintaining employee engagement and productivity.
Michelle Moylan, a human resources specialist with CheckPoint HR, explained that HR professionals have a great opportunity to affect the organisation's bottom line by educating managers and employees on the overall objectives of their company, underlining the importance of team building corporate events.
She added: "Engaging your staff in the company's overall initiatives and objectives helps alleviate uncertainty, keeps employee's spirits up, encourages production and supports the overall mission of an organisation."
This week, the Wall Street Journal reported on comments from experts at the Daily Bankruptcy Review Restructuring and Turnaround Summit in New York, who said that businesses must face up to the economic reality of the downturn.
