Marriott hotel attempts to lure company events

Date: 13/01/2009

Marriott Hotels, the worldwide upmarket accommodation chain, has spent £120 million on refurbishing 38 of its hotels to attract more company events.

The group, which is aiming to get people hosting a team building activity under its roof, took 18 months to complete the project which has seen the installation of 30 new restaurants and coffee bars, the redesigning of 5,000 bedrooms and the creation of 300 meeting rooms.

Four separate styles have been adhered to, including urban, country club, bespoke and international, allowing corporate hospitality events to work with the look that appeals to the conference producers which hire Marriott's services.

Over £5 million has been spent on the Tudor Park Hotel & Country Club and another £4 million splashed out on Bournemouth's Marriott Highcliff hotel, aiming to make them premier destinations for corporate parties.

Marriott also offers its clients "cutting-edge technology and support", providing high-speed internet and videoconferencing services.
