Marriot Hotels rank well for employee satisfaction

Date: 18/03/2009

Team building activity appears to be paying off for Marriot Hotels, which has risen ten places in the Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list.

Almost 1,000 companies took part in this year's process, with more than 200,000 employees filling out questionnaires for judges to consider.

Marriot Hotels in the UK now sit in fourth place on the list, achieving the highest overall in terms of positive attitudes.

More than three quarters (76 per cent) of employees claimed they loved their work at the company.

Gary Dodds, regional vice-president of HR for Marriot UK, said that the performance had been even better than in the previous year.

He said: "Our approach to treat all equally, with dignity and respect and with a strong principle of teamwork all came out as valued.

"We believe our company culture is central to employee engagement, which in turn results in customer satisfaction."

According to the York Press, the York Marriot Hotel has been awarded the title of Conference Venue of the Year 2008 at the Business Development Research Consultants awards
