Manchester wins major conferences deal

Date: 18/08/2009

Manchester Central is to host another two conferences on behalf of a political party in 2012 and 2014.

The city council is pleased to broker the deal with the Labour Party, again highlighting the venue's popularity for team building conferences - particularly in the political sphere.

This is because Manchester Central is to also host the Conservative Party's conferences in both 2009 and 2011, meaning there are now five get-togethers of such a nature in the city over the next five years.

Sir Richard Leese, the leader of Manchester City Council, said of the deal: "Manchester has firmly established itself as a world-class conference destination.

"The return of the Labour party conference is testament both to the successful hosting of previous events and our focus on improving facilities."

Formerly known as the GMEX and the Manchester International Convention Centre, Mahcnester Central is popular with many delegates due to its location next to a number of high-class hotels and restaurants, attracting corporate events management companies from around the world.
