Following major changes to its format, X Factor is to use Manchester Central as one of its regional bases for its talent-spotting show this year.
After the success of Britain's Got Talent in front of a live studio audience, the X Factor - the other major Simon Cowell vehicle on ITV - will replicate the conditions, meaning it needs a solid location with a strong background in corporate events and conferences.
Between July 3rd and 5th, Simon - alongside Dannii Minogue, Cheryl Cole and Louis Walsh - will vet hopefuls from the north-west in the hope of finding the new singing stars of the UK.
Commenting on the deal, chief executive of Manchester Central Lesley Tomlinson said: "Music is a significant part of the venue's past and with the X Factor live auditions and more concerts planned for December it is set to be a part of our future as well.
"It is very exciting for us and the whole team is buzzing with excitement!"
Earlier this month, it was revealed by the developers at Manchester Central that the current facelift - which will cost £20 million - will give the location a hugely contemporary look and enhance the excellence of the location.
